This research group developed a series of molecules that can be polymerised to make aqueous compatible polymer supports for use in organic synthesis and subsequent on-support biological assay.
As part of the validation studies they demonstrated that these materials are highly hydrophilic (demonstrated this in a water uptake assay as they were unable to measure  contact angles since these materials were designed to be highly swellable in water). Consequently the PEG-based molecules they made may be applicable to hydrophilising surfaces to achieve good wetting (low contact angles, ideally < 20Deg) after cleaning that can be delivered simultaneously from a waterborne detergent based formulation.
