The design of ASICs (Application specific Integrated Circuits) is a major research activity, which is often organized in collaboration with experts in the field of application of the circuits (e.g. image processing, robotics, biomedical applications). The research activity also covers more fundamental areas, such as the modelling of fabrication processes, the realization of novel devices, analog integrated circuits, digital systems, methodologies for computer-aided design and information security.
