Company Australia

The company has patents for a product to release "air-borne" materials in particular fragrances. The product is created through a process that physically changes the silicon at the nano-level. As such, the product is an element, not a compound, and its porous honeycomb structure mimics porous membrane structures found in nature.

The product nano-structuring process can create nano-pores within the material. The pores are typically 10 atoms across and are used to ‘load’ drugs, peptides, genes, proteins, radionuclides and other therapies into the silicon structure for medical applications.

The product is used for drug delivery (brachytherapy, inhalation, transdermal and implant delivery methods), orthopaedics (bone replacement, coated joints and composites), tissue engineering, neural interfacing, bionics, in-vivo diagnostics and most recently in sunscreens and dermatology. New applications include implant packaging, neural interfacing and bio-filtration.
