1. Cellulose (cotton) - based immobilization of industrial enzymes (1985).
2. Agarose/Acrylamide composite gels for PFGE and other large pore DNA and Biomolecular Separation and sequencing related applications.
We also studied starch composites, chitosan composites and a few other natural polymers.
3. Gellan Gum based novel gels for various applications. We developed proprietary technologies with which we could make stable gels at an unheard of low 0.01-0.02% w/v o gellan gum concentration. These have a variety of applications, and possibly in paper-related products.
4. Chitosan composite gels.
5. Novel Polymeric Micelle copolymers. A large variety of copolymers were made based on an entirely new class of materials that I invented. These have led to spin-off nanomedicine companies. One holds overall IP on these class of materials that we have developed. Another has technologies for developing specifically targeted virus-killing nanomedicines.
All of the above projects had various "nano" aspects to them.
