Company USA

Microtaggants are microscopic encoded particles which act as virtual ‘fingerprints’ and may be incorporated in many compounded resins

The company has enhanced its Microtaggant identification particle technology and released a number of ready-to-use solutions for brand protection.

Microtaggants are microscopic encoded particles which act as virtual ‘fingerprints’ and they have been developed so that they may be incorporated in many types of compounded resins for the purpose of authenticating genuine injection moulded, extruded and rotationally moulded products. This allows customers to address issues of counterfeiting and product liability/warranty issues.

The company claims that enhancements in the Microtaggant technology make it the most robust, traceable, anti-counterfeit technology available.

In its basic form, the Microtaggant is a unique numeric code sequence in a multiple coloured layer format. In its more complex form, the Microtaggant delivers multiple layers of security through the incorporation of several nanotaggant technologies in a single microscopic particle, resulting in multiple levels of security.

Microtaggants may be read and detected with a variety of inexpensive handheld readers and scanners. They are also biocompatible and meet the standards for ISO10993.

The company now provides ready-to-use identification and authentication solutions in the form of compounded plastic resins, films, adhesives, paper, security threads and security labels. Identification of genuine products is easily accomplished through the incorporation of the Microtaggant in a variety of solutions including compounded plastic resins for packaging or film and adhesives for labels.

The company compounded plastic resins are created with Microtaggant identification particles embedded throughout.

The resin is supplied in master batch quantities for letdown at predetermined rates or as a fully compounded resin for immediate processing.

The company compounded plastic resins are available in a variety of resin types and colours.

The end result is a finished plastic product with covert identification and authentication capability from the Microtaggants embedded throughout.

The technology is said to be like no other anti-counterfeit technology. Microtrace can provide multiple taggant technologies - including nanotechnology materials - in a single delivery format. It is claimed that no other technology delivers such robust identification and authentication capabilities.

Other anti-counterfeit technologies offer only a single level of authentication whether it is visual, spectral or other identification method.

The company can incorporate one or all of these nanotaggant technologies within the structure of a single Microtaggant identification particle to provide the highest possible level of security for each application.
