Research Centre GermanyMaterial development on the basis of nanoscale inorganic-organic hybrid materials by sol-gel processing. Could be used in:· Coatings for different substrate materials (plastics, glass, metals, ceramics, textiles) · Multifunctional coatings exhibiting one or combinations of the following properties: scratch and abrasion resistance, anti-static, oleophobic, easy-to-clean, anti-reflective, anti-microbial activity, sensor and catalytic activity · Coatings cured by temperature or UV. The technology is based on wet chemical lacquer technology, to be used with standard equipment. Some of the developments are already commercialized, for some applications there are licence agreements. A small company as subsidiary of the institute is producing and selling some of the materials. But only a certain range of compositions where the development for standard applications is finished (e.g. scratch resistant coatings for plastics). Access to the technology is based on license contracts or in common projects.
