Anti-Corrosive Coating for Light Metals
Principle
It’s a coating based on Sol-Gel process. It protects the surfaces of a wide variety of materials from environmental and mechanical corrosion. The materials are resistant to a large number of chemicals and cannot be etched by organic solvents. The coating can be applied to various surfaces such as: Metals (Aluminium, Magnesium etc), Glass, Polymers, and Ceramics.
Properties of the coating
Very good adhesion to metal surfaces
Excellent protection against corrosion
Resistant to mechanical stress
Resistant to acid and alkali attack
Transparent and Colour pigmented
Thin Layers (3-5mm- Transparent, 10-15mm for pigmented)
Resistance to high temperature (up to 700 deg c)
Very good diffusion barrier effect from heavy metals, aromas and various gases
Water and Oil repellant
Advantages
Excellent protection against corrosion
No cromating required
Very good adhesive qualities on light alloys
Considerable reduction in maintenance and cleaning costs
Environmentally friendly cleansing with evident reduction in chemicals
Appears clean to the eye throughout
Maintains quality of the surface
Coating process
The Coating material can be processed similar to conventional paint material in terms of application i.e. by spraying, dipping, painting, rolling, casting and flow coating. The curing process depends on the coating system, which ranges from materials, which harden at room temperature, baking systems and UV-curing coatings.
Areas of application
Construction parts for the automotive industry
Aluminium parts
Magnesium parts
Decorative coatings
High-temperature corrosion protection
Heat exchangers
Diffusion barriers for fittings containing heavy metals
