Company Canada
The company develops and manufactures perovskite formulations for low temperature diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC) and other types of autocatalysts. Using a patented physical production technology, Nanox is able to engineer catalysts with unique properties to meet challenges currently faced by the autocatalyst industry. The company's products allow improved emission control at significantly lower precious metal loading.
The company currently is focused on auto catalysts that exhibit superior catalytic activity at lower temperatures using significantly reduced levels of precious metals.
There is now an increasing level of interest in environmental protection with respect to air, water and soil contamination. Specifically, governments and public service groups are focused on improving the quality of air by controlling emissions from both mobile and stationary sources. In this respect, catalysts now play a critical role in achieving these goals and more stringent regulatory standards are being adopted around the world.
Historically, the most commonly used active catalyst materials are precious metals, mainly the platinum group metals of platinum, palladium and rhodium. However, the higher demand has led to escalating prices that will become more problematic as demands increase in other industries, such as fuel cells and jewelry.
The company is capable of resolving this difficult situation. Its nanocrystalline perovskite-based emission catalyst product has demonstrated the ability to maintain high catalytic activity in oxidizing carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons at relatively low temperatures, while allowing catalyst formulators to reduce the amount of precious metals needed.
The first product has been engineered as a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst to destroy carbon monoxide and gaseous hydrocarbons, while serving to reduce the soluble organic fraction of the particulate emissions that we often see as a cloud of black smoke.
