The aerogel’s high porosity and hydrophobic nature make it ideally suited for applications such as architectural daylighting systems where high light transmission, reduced sound transmission, excellent thermal insulation, and absolute resistance to moisture are necessary.

Product properties include:


High porosity:  highly-porous structure provides high reinforcement and matting efficiency at low concentrations.
Flowability: The aerogel beads have excellent flow properties.
Friability: Under intense dispersion conditions, aerogel particles are reduced to sub-micrometer sizes, leading to good reinforcement.
Hydrophobic surface: aerogel particles repel water but can be wetted by oleophilic substances such as oils.
Open porosity: The pores of the aerogel are open to each other.
Particle size: aerogel is available in a wide range of particle sizes.
Surface treatment: N surface groups are chemically anchored to the silica skeleton and thus are stable over a wide range of temperatures and pH.

Aerogels can be used as a matting agent in a wide-range of surface coating formulations and deliver the following benefits:

High film clarity and low haze
Enhanced water, chemical and corrosion resistance

Aerogels can be used in a wide-range of adhesive and sealant applications, such as highly filled, high viscous thixotropic formulations, and provide the following benefits:
Stronger adhesion and less sag
Higher transparency
Lower concentration of aerogels required as compared tp conventional silicas
Faster recovery time
Better viscosity stability
Decreased rest tack after curing
Increased shore hardness
Less bleeding
