By incorporating a nano additive into the makedown of a dry mix product, water-resistant properties can be achieved throughout the thickness of the material rather than just on the surface of the material as with other additives. Nano additives are also much easier to incorporate into the makedown of dry mix products than are the extremely hydrophobic competitive silane polymer additives.
