[nanoPost] Nanoclay technology for improved odour control

The centre cover several areas of nanotechnology. These include
• Nanoclay technology for improved barrier properties of polymers and paints, with other possible applications in odour control and delivery of active compounds.
• Nanostructured PVD coatings for decorative and functional applications. They have developed a wide range of coatings including a hard wearing coatings with a wide colour range, coatings for cutting surfaces, coatings for low-friction applications and coatings for combined wear and corrosion protection. 

 
The centre also have active research programmes in the following areas
• Sol-gel coatings for with anti-microbial properties;
• Nanoclays for fire retardency of packaging materials;
• Measurement of controlled drug release for pharmaceutical companies.
