Company USA

The vision of the company is to demonstrate the superior performance of ductile metals and alloys when they are processed, using thier proprietary technology, to produce ultra-fine grain sizes characteristic of "nanostructured" polycrystalline metalic materials.

The main application areas to date include structural metals and  alloys, and in particular titanium metals and alloys, used to construct
high-performance structures as are used for biomedical, areospace,
chemical processing, and sports structures.

Nanostructured metals and alloys possess significantly enhanced
mechanical properties that include, for example, increased strength
without concurrent losses in ductility, and significantly increased
resistance to fatigue fracture. Nanostructured commercially pure
grades of titanium have proven to also possess excellent
machinability as well as high toughness and strength.

The company has developed unique processing methodology for producing nanostructures in a wide range of ductile metals and alloys and is now commercializing this new and revolutionary technology.

Products include bar and rod stock of nanostructured metals and alloys. Metallicum's focus to date has been on commercially pure grades of titanium, in round rod stock, for use in biomedical
structures. Future products will include flat bar and plate stock of titanium as well as other metals and alloys.

Applications

Biomedical structures, such as implants, require round or flat bar stock.  Requirements are for high strength and high fatigue resistance.

Sports structures, along with biomedical structures, require round and tube stock.
