Research Centre Spain

The department is called Molecular Nanoscience and Organic Materials group and has strong expertise on synthesis and processing of organic materials. In addition to scientific activities, this department has a strong background of activities dealing with technology transfer to industry, which has permitted its participation in a network of support centres for technology innovation coordinated by the Catalan Government.

In relation to the technology demand you are exposing, our group has a 10 year expertise dealing with the preparation of micro and nanoparticulate organic materials. In particular, this expertise is based in the use of compressed fluids (e.g. CO2) as solvent media for the straightforward preparation of particulate materials with strong control of particle size and internal structure of the material. As an example of the results obtained during the development of this research line, we have invented a new methodology to precipitate finely divided solid particles and called DELOS.

We have also capacity to modulate particle size from 200 nm to few microns through other compressed fluids based techniques complementary to DELOS process (e.g CO2 antisolvent techniques). Concerning the shape, and as you see in the two documents we send you, several kind of particle shapes can be achieved by compressed fluid technologies.
