Company Ireland

The company is a leading supplier of high surface area Ordered Mesoporous Materials (OMMs) in thin film and powder form. OMMs are ordered arrays of unisized pores of between 2 and 15 nanometres (nm) diameter separated by walls of thickness 2 to 6 nm.  They exhibit very high surface areas (frequently greater than 1000 sq.m/g), which makes them useful for high precision separation technologies and catalysis. They are also known as mesoporous molecular solids and are a complementary class of materials to zeolites which have pore sizes below 2 nm.  Materials with pore sizes above those of zeolites are important as they can extend the range of larger molecules and even biomolecules that can be absorbed by the materials.

The commercial use of OMMs to date has been limited due to their low thermal, physical and chemical stability, long and complex preparations and susceptibility to pore collapse.

Their  OMM technology provides thermally, mechanically and chemically stable mesoporous films and powders with very high structural order. Using a combination of proprietary synthetic methods, materials are available in a range of pore sizes from 2nm to 12 nm with Ångstom precision in the pore size. Larger pore sizes are available with exceptionally high surface areas but with reduced structural order.

These materials have exceptional adsorbent potential and the facile tuning of the material's properties enables a range of household products to be envisioned that can tackle specific malodour absorbing applications.
