| The main areas of expertise is microbiological risk assessment including prevalence studies, bacterial contamination routes, risk identification, bacterial adhesion, establishment, survival and growth, and modelling of bacterial response. At present they are focusing the adhesion properties and biofilm formation of Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogenic bacteria frequently found as an in-house flora in food processing plants. The technologies of interest are analysis of survival on surfaces, model system for biofilm formation, identification of microbial communities, evaluation of gene activity relevant in colonization and adhesion to surfaces, and probability modelling. They also perform consultant work evaluating anti-microbial activity of surfaces and microbial survival on many types of surfaces such as hands, floor material, stainless steel and bananas. |
