This group has the capability to produce biocidal active nanoparticles and put them into some polymeric coatings. They have researcher expertise in anti-fouling coatings (work done in conjunction with the US Navy), anti-corrosion coatings, and in reactive coatings that prevent the ingress of taint from wine corks into the wine (Fosters Group of companies and Vinicor in Portugal).

They have patented coatings with companies, undergone technology transfer across the equator many times, and gone through scale up from the lab scale to 6 ton reactors (both continuous and batch processes) with many products in the commercial marketplace currently.
